What are some of the items you will need to spray paint your vehicle?
You will need the following items:
- Masking Tape.
- Some type of covering, possibly paper or tarp.
- Washing detergent designed specifically for vehicles and also a
brush.
- Grease and wax remover.
- Various grits of sandpaper.
- Primer
- Urethane based paint
- Paint Sprayer.
- Items that will protect your skin. This could be goggles, dust
masks, or other types of clothes.
- Putty and a knife.
The first step when spray painting your automobile is to wash it
completely and thoroughly. This is a very important step because
even though it may look clean, there is actually a lot of dust and
grime that is present on your car. This must be removed completely
in order for the paint to adhere properly. After washing your car,
you should then use a wax and grease remover to finish this first
step.

The second step is to sand your vehicle. Make sure to sand down
rough areas that would cause the paint to be applied unevenly.
The third step is to prep the car to be painted. Make sure the paint
is completely dry. To keep debris from getting on the car after it
is washed, you can ground a wire from the car chassis to an object
that is grounded nearby. After that is done, you can cover any areas
of the car you do not want to get paint on.
The fourth step is to apply the primer. This is an important step
because the primer will help the paint to adhere to the car surface
much better.
The fifth step is to actually paint your vehicle. use your spray
paint gun to apply the urethane based paint. Usually two coats of
paint is sufficient.
The sixth step is to apply the clear coat. Usually three coats of
clear coat is enough to finish the job of spray painting your car. |
