Spray Painting your Guitar
Many people put a lot of time, energy, and money into their musical
instruments. Some of the most fanatical instrument owners are guitar
owners. Some guitar owners and musicians even spray paint their
instruments to improve the look and condition of it. This is done for
various reasons, including covering up damage that has been to an
otherwise excellent guitar. So what are some tips to help you spray
paint your guitar? Obviously, the firs thing you want to do is to pick
the color you want to use. The second step is to cover the parts of the
guitar that you do not want to paint. It is very important to do that
because there are a number of areas on the guitar that you do not
normally want to paint. In most cases, you only want to paint the guitar
body. Most people don't want to paint the neck of the instrument and
also the headstock. Also, the pickups are not usually painted. These non
painted areas can be covered with tape for the smaller areas and paper
for the larger areas.
The third step is to find a good work space that will allow you to
paint your guitar. First you will want to put down some paper so that
paint does not get on the floor or other areas.
The fourth step is to begin spray painting your guitar with the color
you chose in step one. If this is your first attempt especially, you
will want to take your time until you get the hang of it. Hold the spray
paint gun or paint close enough to the instrument so the paint does not
puddle. Make sure you use even and consistent spraying motions.
The fifth step requires you to possible use a little creative
thinking so that you can apply the paint on the entire part of the
guitar you re trying to paint. For example, you may have to put the
guitar up on wood blocks or whatever it takes so that you can find the
appropriate angles to paint the entire instrument. The sixth step
involves adding any creative design to your instrument. This needs to be
done while the paint is still wet. Spray painters who have the necessary
experience and skill can use certain tools to create very visually
appealing designs. The seventh and final step is to simply let the
guitar dry. After it has dried completely, you can uncover the various
parts of the instrument.
These are the basic steps for spray painting your guitar. With some
practice, you will be able to spray paint your guitar just like a
professional. |
